Guiding / Labels
Clear guiding and signs will ensure that the library is easily accessible and effectively used. Both Fiction and Non fiction shelving require guiding.
Signs should include:
- Wall subject index
- Signs on each bay of shelving
- Signs of shelves as necessary
- Signs on end panels if available
There are a number of commercial or online suppliers of signs and posters as well as the resources that are available from specialist library suppliers
A simple idea for fiction guiding eg A-Z can be laminated card cut in half, landscape way and laminated with each letter on both sides of the card. This works very well in a classroom collection or where the fiction shelving space is very limited
